Building the head of General Blackblood from the ABC Warriors as a wearable mask. Following on from last weeks build I finally managed to fix on the face-plates and finish the neck. Just finished adding a matching colour layer of dirt and scratches.
I just have to build the skull to fit on the forehead and make some ears for him, which I'm trying to work out how to attach them without them being too heavy on the card.

The neck armour is built onto a soft funky foam mask that hides the neck and mouth.I've built a teeth/grinder shape onto the chin so it lines up and looks like the roof of the mouth. Forgot to take a photo of it.. oops

Spine plate hides the velcro fastening on the back so you can get your head in it, innit.

Just a test for the Generals peak cap (which needs widening). Got to build a red 'V' and ripped cloth. And maybe the Snake emblem he had while leading the 'Straw Dogs' jungle warfare unit. There was no 'scar' in the comic but at some point he lost an eye so I wanted it in.

It's kind of getting there...

The ABC Warriors from 2000AD. I used to read these as a kid, the were freaking awesome. Pure robot sci-fi loosely based on the idea of Magnificent Seven ( which is based on the Seven Samurai, the greatest film of all time ) but with all the great twists that the guys at 2000AD took into a whole other direction. As a huge fan of the artist Mick McMahon I try to collect anything with his work in it and have always had these guys in my mind. So when 3A toys started doing figures based on it I really wanted one. The first figure of 'Mongrol' is bloody huge. I wanted it so bad but just after xmas discovered that all the money I thought I had was actually minus the amount. I'm now too poor to buy one

So to hell with it, I'm going to have to build a new toy instead.

I was thinking it would be nice to have a life size head of each of the ABC Warriors. Why not start with the most original robot design ever created, General Blackblood. (Based on Robert Vaughns cowardly, low down snake in the grass, character 'Lee')

Most of my direction is based on this 2000AD issue 125. The ABC Warriors and the first appearance of General Blackblood. Front cover by Mick McMahon. And a few other shots by others. But I think the best versions of the characters were by McMahon and Simon Bisley. ( By the way.. Take another look at that cover. You will notice that the 'Deadlock' character isnt even Deadlock. Who the hell is that guy?)

I did a couple of sketches to work out how to build it. This is based on a shot from issue 126. The small bits on the side of the head I decided to ditch. After this story you didnt see them again. The designs were always changing slightly over time but this early design is easily the best. (3A, if you make it into a toy it has to be based on the early one. With the WW2 ammo pouches and dodgy peg leg :)

Theres so many damn pieces to his head. Front head, back head, mouth, three layer jaw, four face plates, forehead plate with twelve sections and skull, ears and lots of edge trims. So I did a quick build in paper to work out if the layers would even work.

Which helped me design a nice curved shape for the top of the head out of one cut piece. And one sheet nose and mouth piece that would join at the ear to strenghten it. So I cut all the designs out of cereal boxes.

This is when I realised I wasn't really building a sculpture but a wearable mask. It fits nice. Seeing it like this I was able to work out some better shapes to make the final template. Look at that fool! It's not like I can ever wear it anywhere. I just like knowing I can. Like all the other helmets on the shelf behind me.

Its built using cardboard. Using PVA glue to attach it to 'Funky Foam' to give it some thickness. The sizes kept throwing me off as you have to add 4mm for each layer on the corners. And with thin strips of card glued on for the edges that you can see in the cover art. Then I used acrylic paint to coat the surface to give the spraypaint something to stick to.

Next I painted it with PlastiKote Metalic. This is for any metal effect you want to show through fake scratches and worn edges. Silver is really hard to photograph. Next thing was to use a masking fluid to cover any areas to look like scratches. Used it along all the edges that looked like they would get most wear. Let it dry longer than I did. It's damn sticky

Once that was done I painted it with dark green spraypaint. Once that is dry a used a sponge to dab on acrylic paint to give it some texture. Using light turquoise. Then medium, then darkish turquiose. Then finished with a couple of different greens. Because the arylic is matt, any spraypaint surface showing still has a shine to it which adds to the texture of it. Ive no idea why turquiose works so well to make green but it does. I got the idea from my mum, who is an amazing textile artist, who did this book, that I keep flicking through now and then thinking, 'how the hell she do dat' . She manages to make any material look liked aged metal using hundreds of layers of paint. I dont have as much patience as her but I think I managed to hide the look of cardboard.
I also used a dirty brown and watery black to add into the crevices and add dirt.

Then I used a bronze metalic paint called 'Goldfinger' for the edges. Once that was dry. I rubbed off all of the masking fluid I had put onto the silver. This rips off all the layers of paint youve added and the shiny metal shows through. But it's too shiny. So I added dirt and rust colours to all these new edges.

Thats how far Ive got. I still have to add the front face plates. The forehead armour, with skull, and the ears. Not to mention the neck and inside of the mouth so you cant see the chin in there. And maybe have to work out how to add a glowing green right eye and a 'dead' left eye. It's a lot of work for a new toy.

Wait a minute.. how many more ABC warriors are there?

Anti-Graffit Paint and obligatory graff toys (because Im a nerd)

Having started painting mid eighties I have had to use a lot of crap paint. And most of it from where ever I could get it. Car boot sales, local hardware stores and old stocks thrown away by paint companies. Especially being in Wales, you really had to go out of your way to finding decent paint. Getting a commission was a great way to top up on better paint. I was never really fussy and would paint with anything I could get. And I still would. (Except for Parsons paint.. that was the worst paint I ever got stuck with. I took a whole car boot load worth)
After painting a couple of years I started to keep one of each of the paints I used if I hadnt trashed it too much. Ive accidently ended up with a small collection. And I've never been able to part with them.
The more places I painted the more variety of paints I got.
Although theres a couple of new brands in there, the whole mish mash list of paint cans are an example of the styles of paint used by a one UK painter from the 80's through to the 90's.

The weird stuff. Shoe paint, flower paint, Rubber Duck tar paint, bicycle repair paint with tyre repair kits.
And some really nice Tuxan paint from Perth thanks to Stormboy

The dark blue Hycote Double Acrylic, my favourite outlining paint from the 90's. My favourite UK paint, Dupli Colour from old to new with Panel Spray cans that had the horrible calligraphy nozzles on. And not forgetting the awesome Hammerite.

The few good interesting tins picked up along the way, Krylon, Altona, Sparvar and Beltons. Best of all is the Buntlacks. I had to go to all the way to Manchester to first discover those. The Turqoise Blue and Rose Pink were my favourite and reserved for best. Loved the caps on the early cans.

The unsorted, oddities from all over. Theres some weird decoration paint, poisonous tractor paint.
And room for some new ones.

The box on the far left has the cans with the clear tops. Wish I had kept some of those tins properly. Keeping the lids never crossed my mind back then. Took ages to use up the Tan Dupli and Metalic Green and Blue's. But when you go to the factory and just take whats being thrown out, sometimes that's all you got

Being a collector is a bad habit. I go out of my way to get Graffiti books. That is my normal vice that keeps me skint. But collecting cans is accidental. As they're the tools of the trade, it's just something that happens to hang around for most painters I guess. Could never bring myself to get rid of them.
But goddamn it I love them!

I originally planned to paint my name in biomechanical style. Even did a sketch in advance for a change. Got to Sell Oak and I thought I'd lost it on the train, looked everywhere for it. Got to the wall, searched my pockets for inspiration and there was my railcard with my face on, 'Ha, fuck it why not..'
When I recently went through all my old piecebooks for Monokrome, guess what I found!..

As for the other sketches in Monokrome, I figured that not many people would have seen my old stuff, and my style has changed quite a bit. So why not throw in a few old samples from over the years for projects that never saw the light of day. Sketches for LP cover ideas for DJ Spike. Some erotic Gigerism from my 'carnal chaos of burning eroticism' sketchbook that probably only Juice will remember seeing.
And the original Gigerism sketch for my 'Malcolm X' piece that I don't have photos of but you can see me painting it in 'The Big Payback' Livingston Graffiti event in 1992 ( I found it on Youtube.. Thats me at the start.. Fuck me!! I am really thin back then.. what happened? Ignorant twenty something with a full head of hair, to hell with him.. skinny bastard!)

Anyway, forget me, get the book for all the other great artwork in there, blackbook work from 31 featured artists from all different styles of graff. Go get Monokrome now.
I'm looking forward to it myself, love to see other peoples sketches.

Looking through my sketches for old pieces, I realise there aren't many of them left.
Heres the original quick sketch for my piece at the 'Pressure Paint Festival' that took place at Selly Oak in May 1992

Going back through my old piecebooks it's amazing how much of it I've lost. I either forgot to take my camera to events or Ive lost photos over the years. Especially when the 90's hit. I was still a graff collector, keeping anything graff related I saw but never thought to look after my own stuff.
I thought now might be a good time to catch up and scan my outlines. Now I remember I never did many outlines. Mostly I would wait to see what I was painting and then just freestyle it. If I did sketch, it was a just a basic outline and then I made the rest up as I went along. It was a great free and easy way to paint, and I liked it that way, paint for fun. Unfortunatly, now that I want to go back and share my process it's not there. I am just as bad with my illustration work, I will sketch on the page until it looked right then work on top of it to the finished piece. Odd behaviour for someone who loves looking through other peoples sketchbooks.

Whole Train

Whole Train. It's a great film, directed by Florian Gaag, about a Munich graffiti crew.
For a change, it's a pretty accurate look at graffiti artists. Theres some stunning graffiti in here by Neon, Won, Cemnoz, Pure and Ciel. That train that pulls up early on is amazing. Love the Won character.
I had to watch the film in German as the subtitles didnt work. I don't even understand German and it was still a great film.
Cant wait to watch it again with decent subs.
I could have drawn the racking, the bombing in ski masks, the fighting with police but this scene, not exactly the most dramatic scene to sketch from a movie, it's one that I most Identified with.
What I miss most is the black book sessions. Either before we went painting or after an event chilling out we all just sketched up in our piece books, swap books. Looked over tons of graff photos and magazines. Good times with good friends.
Graffiti and Hip Hop is fucking awesome.

Let Me In

A great little moment from the remake of 'Let the right one in'. It was not a bad remake. Not quite as atmospheric as the original. Chloe Moretz was pretty good but I think the director missed out by having her come across as so innocent. And they shouldnt have done the dodgy CG effects. The physical make-up effects were just fine so why go there..

The original was much better. Watch 'Let the right one in'. make sure it has the correct subtitles as it does make a difference to the characters. It might not sound like you need the exact translation but it makes a huge difference to the relationship between the 'little girl' and her Keeper. More details here iconsoffright.com

Black Swan

Everyone must know this one by now. Pretty basic story structure made nice and wierd by Darren Aronofsky. It's pretty good, and it certainly doesn't hurt to see Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis going at it. This sketch is a scene I was suprised to see.

Did Natalie really do that? Maybe I need to watch it again just to make sure. Rewind!!! :)

Reign of Assassins

Directed by Chao-Bin Su and John Woo. Not a bad wire-fu movie. Always a fan of Michelle Yeoh. 'Drizzle' is a daft name for a character though.
Ridiculous story about a group of assassins called The Dark Stone fighting over the remains of the enlightened monk Bodhi. Felt sorry for poor old Lei Bi, he had a family to support!

'Apparition Park' was an awesome colaborative writing project by Jeff Noon and Steve Beard using the Mappalujo engine. The original online writing project created online in 2002 at www.mappalujo.com
The writing game was a shared narrative with the writers taking turns at each chapter and the Mappalujo Engine infecting the style with a celebrity virus. The project was later collected together and refined into a finished story.

We did talk about maybe working on an illustrated version of the book. Each chapter would have the Mappalujo Engines choice of celebrity virus. I know my brother will be interested to see these. We are both huge fans of Jeff Noon. Heres two sample chapter headings infected by Harry Houdini and Jim Rose. Under the title is an object featured within the chapter.

Death Day by Sam Hiti.
An awesome sci-fi strip with lots of action, all done in a beautiful brush and ink style that Sam Hiti seems to perfect.
You can check out the first three chapters and prologue on his Death Day website for free.
There's also the collected first book available that contains chapter 4. Chapter 4 is huge. The battle gets epic.
I got myself a copy of the black band edition and it's beautifully presented. Take off the black band to get at the bug eyed insane Third Wave Commando Captain wrap-around dust jacket and a great original sketch inside. Goes nicely with the hand drawn cover of the Prologue book.

Who needs new comics day when you can have self published books sent straight from the artist with a unique hand drawn sketch in it.

Remi and I had already done a piece in CMYK so we got to do this one in RGB.
We had a visit from two police sniffer dogs. One for a second opinion obviously.
The detailed parts are sections of the Honda engine.

Around 2001 when I first moved to Brighton, I was a texture artists for a computer games company. I liked to collect my own photo reference for building realistic in-game textures. After a while can't look at anything without breaking it down in to colour and form. Everything is a texture. And the one thing that really started to stand out for me was the excessive amount of arrows. Everywhere I went, there they were. Thats about the time I started photographing them.
Being into graffiti you get a love for the arrow, normally adding armour or style to a letterform. So when you see start to see them on your travels you just can't stop seeing them. But then looking around it seems we have come to accept it as out most basic form of communication. Go that way. Travel this way. Put money in here. Move point a to point b in that direction.We are directed every where we go.
Back then when I started we only had a 3mp camera, so there's some grainy shots in there. Its funny how quickly over the years the cameras kept getting better. I never intended at first to collect these, it just happend. I never did get around to posting them on the Ikonoklast Movement website, which we stopped but lately with more people sharing their photos on line I started to notice I was not alone in seeing these things. We all get obsessed in some weird artifacts. And graffiti artists are especially drawn to the arrow, just check 'Style Wars' if you haven't seen it. (How can you not have seen it?). I just wanted to see what it looked like. Had to get the idea out of my head. And I think it looks pretty cool to go with the rest of my toys. It's a fully functioning spray paint respirator, it just also happens to have light up eyes.

Take apart the voice changer Terminator mask and the respirator. Cut holes for the cartridge. Carv out the eyes. Masking glue lines. Hycote acrylic primer. Mask off chipped edges. Paint white with glossy or add spray varnish. Peel off masking. Join the mask back together and use 19mm plastic tubing to join the cartridges to the respirator. Viola. New mask/toy

Heres the respirator inside the mask. Iv'e also cut a hole in the plastic and kept the microphone.
The mask works great but not very practical. The damn thing is huge and you cant see where your walking.

One of the main themes is the number 10. The main wall uses 10 colours. Juice 126 created his own set of Rorschach 'inkblots' in spray paint as there are officially ten images in the test. LX One used the Tetractys of the Pythagoreans. Derm was based in Base 10 and the decimal system. Timid inspired by the decagonal number and I went for the Ten Heavenly Stems.

The Ten Heavenly (sy)Stems

In China around 1600BC, the Shang Dynasty belived there were ten suns. These Celestial Stems, or Heavenly Stems were given their own names. There are nine individual system characters sketches that join up to create 'Jiǎ' the main character who represents the first of the Heavenly Stems. The canvas is spray painted within our ten colour limit then the thin calligraphy paper glued on top to show the colour through the paper. It's a bit delicate, so I probably won't be trying that experiment again.

Ten Kimonos

The Heian period of Japan was a time of art and culture, they had some unique customs and the style of Kimonos and ceremony really took shape.. Noble women would wear 'Juni-Hitoe'. They are the 'twelve layers' of Kimono. Every detail was important, the arrangment and colour, to represent the seasons, virtues and elements of the earth. The makeup was also very unusual and can often be seen on the Noh theatre masks. I love this era, the golden age of Japan, its so over the top. (And this style shows up a lot in the court scenes of any of the 'Chūshingura' movies. The tale of the 47 Loyal Retainers. I love Jidaigeki movies and especially Chambara.)
I decided to do 'Ten Kimonos' for the show. I buffed some graff off a canvas board and then illustrated with acrylic on top within the ten colour limit. Tried to let the scratched off textures show through as much as possible. (which is why there is a little too much space on top, I couldn't bring myself to paint over the texture) The orange and blue really clash in the flesh.

Finished my peice for the Au Secours event in aid of the Haiti charity.

'Sketchbox' - A box for putting sketches in. Most of this is recycled material. The wooden box was rescued from an old graphics card display. I painted it black and wood glued textured paper over it so the black shows through. Brough out the sketch with Japanese brush pens and then it's all sealed in a light varnish.

And you can't have a box without having something inside it, so there's two new sketch pieces to go inside.
"Red Lorri" and "Yellow Lorri". Created on recycled card. I love old packing boxes and parcels. I like the challenge of remixing the design already on the box, fitting an image around them, or using it as texture.The backs are signed and then sealed in red and yellow packing tape. Yellow Lorri's blue dots are still drying and smells of Hycote Double acrylic, 'Peugeot Blue Spatial', my favourite outlining colour.

I've also included my catalogue from my 'Gaijin No Bijinga' show at the Galería Nuble and 3 postcards. Also I've also included the piece of paper I used when gluing the paper to the box. The pencils transfered over to the wet paper. Looks kind of ghostly. I love accidents like that.

I hope this finds a nice home, I love boxes.
I have a lot of recycled card and boxes ready for my next sets I will be working on.
So this box is officially 'Sketchbox #001'

This is drokkin awesome! That is artist Greg Staples as Judge Dredd? These amazing costume tests were made for a Judge Dredd Based fan film "Judge Minty" currently in production. Seriously how do I get one of them Judge helmets!! Which one of you Umpty Candy eating Sumps do I have to kill to get one?

I have got a serious nerd-on for this fan film. 2000AD was my first real comic. I think I was nine when 'prog 1' was given to me, and I grew up with it. And Judge Dredd is what kept me coming back for more. The art of Mick McMahon and Brian Bolland made Dredd what he is today and their work is what first really inspired me to want to draw. Judge Dredd is a total evil fascist who represents everything wrong with governments and the law gone wrong. But he's a total badass and takes no shit. Some of those early stories with all the subtle humour thrown in are just great. The world of Mega City 1 got crazier as time went on, and the world got bigger than Judge Dredds boots. How can you not love a bit of Dredd.
Fuck Hollywood's Stallone version, this is how the Dredd looks. This has got me more excited than them Twilight Moms drooling over 'team Jacob'

I think they have picked the perfect story to work with. 'Judge Minty' from 2000AD prog 147 by John Wagner and Mick McMahon (Complete case files vol.3). One of those stories that gives the world a bit of depth, and the judges some real character. I was so hoping that his story was going to carry on the week after and it didn't happen. So finally we will get to see old Minty take his first steps into the cursed earth.

Time really does fly by. The show is well and truly over and a new show is up at Galeria Nuble. But if anyone is still interested in a painting, now is the time to get in contact with Galeria Nuble and ask them before I have the remaining work sent back to me. The small stuff and cardboard work is all gone but don't let that stop you :)
This girl is based on early Heian style, and inspired by the Hina Matsuri dolls, wearing Juni-Hitoe robes. Love this style as it's really over the top and ceremonial. 'Iro Iro' was the last painting done for the show. It roughly translates as 'this and that' and probably has the most layers of all the work. Starting with a few layers of random sketching with spraypaint, then tagging, quick throw up to cover it, and then buffing it off as much as I can. You can see the first layers just about showing through. Interestingly, I notice that the anti-graffiti stuff melted off all the 'graffiti paint' by Montana but just didn't work on the 'Grog' black ink or Hycote's double acrylic spray.
I gave it a couple of days to dry out and painted a character on top with acrylic. Then framed it with a little throwup.

Buffing away the layers makes for really nice textures.

Galeria Nuble

The buffing thing really makes me wonder though.. Montana is making paint to directly target graffiti artists and yet it's really easy to buff off. City Council's should stop whining and quit lying about the cost of buffing it off. End custodial sentences for graffiti artists and make them clean it off.

'Gaijin No Bijinga' at Galeria Nuble in Santander.

My show, up now until July 4th, originally started with the Yellow Kimono, my first picture of the show that inspired the direction I was going to go. Originally called 'Sykimono' for the postcards, short for 'system-kimono', it is now called 'Kikimono', Kiiro(Yellow) - Kimono, basically short for Yellow Kimono. Paper and antique calligraphy pages wood glued to canvas before painting acrylic and dye.
The main head decoration is based on the traditional Geisha 'Kanzashi' hair ornaments. In place of the flowers is my 'System' piece.

I mostly stopped painting lettering in my graff when I joined Ikonoklast in 1989 and went through my Gigerism biomechanical style. And I always just liked painting characters anyway, and was always happy to be the character guy when doing productions. I still do outlines in my sketchbook or doodle on old paper and even hide them in my illustration work now and then but you won't see them very often. When I worked in computer games I would hide my name somewhere in each game I worked on. Lettering is something that never leaves you, and it's what makes the graff art movement so unique. After all these years I still love all graffiti. A city just doesn't feel right for me if it isn't written on.
But I still also like drawing. This is the original sketch on old newsprint paper.

'Gaijin No Bijinga' is up until July 4th at Galeria Nuble in Santander.

I put up an installation of cardboard as a backdrop to my illustrations on discarded boxes. And above the table you can just about see the O-shide lightning bolts put up for good luck. A huge thanks to my fellow Agents Of Change Rough and Timid for helping me get it all finished on time for the opening, and understanding my need for huge cups of coffee. (Whats with all the tiny cups everyone drinks over there, I'm hoping that everyone will be drinking the 'System Coffee' next time I go back to Spain)

I had a great time and the gallery is a great size. The gallerist Jose Luis was fantastic and looked after us, and got the flyer and catalogue printed faster than anything I've ever seen printed.
Ive updated the website with photos of the work in the Exhibits section.

While there, Galeria Nuble also got involved with the 'Graffiti' exhibition taking place at the Museo de Bellas de Santander. An exhibition to bring graffiti into the museum of fine art. Remi/Rough and myself were invited to take part so we got a nice wall to paint along with a few local crews. And definite props to the Vándalos crew VDS who seemed to have VDS dubs and throwups everywhere we went in Santander. On the opening day there was a quick digital blackbook session with laptops and phones :) and they showed us a video of their exploits from all over Spain. Very nice, nuff said..

New work inspired by Bijinga art of Japan with elements of graffiti finding their way into the illustrations, from the calligraphy of graff lettering to the destroyed textures of buffing.

I will be painting graff in the Gallery and also working with Rough at the Museum of modern art.

I love art books, especially graffiti art books. King Size is an amazing project. Adams made a super-sized homemade marker and sent it to writers he thought would put it to good use. This book shows you how the marker was made and then the photos of them in action. Featuring Sacer, Twist, Foe, Kegr, Nug and Zys. Man, this is how big tags should be.
There's also three sections of text by various authors. The best one is 'Gotten Up' by Craig Castleman who wrote 'Getting Up : Subway Graffiti in New York' back in 1982, another damn good book, If you don't have it, why the feck not?
King Size has been next to my desk since I first got it, it's a great looking book. Each book is hand finished with it's own cardboard covers so each is unique. There was 3000 printed. The poor bastard had to cut out 6000 pieces of cardboard and gaffa tape them to the pages. I got the frosties box.. lol. The sticker on the front is the actual size of the marker nib. Nice touch

It's came out a while ago but it might still be available from some graff stores online. Please try and get one. Iv'e picked it up again because it turns out someone has posted the original PDF online. It's the original, not scanned, so all the pictures are clean and not all newsprint halftone dots. Niice!

Also this week, I went down to my local Borders to find a copy of the latest Juxtapoz featuring Chaz Bojorquez interviewed by Saber. Samples here. Love that guys writing style.

Instead I found the latest copy of VNA, very nearly almost issue 8.
Featuring Kid Acne and Nylon, this is the best issue they have done yet. Show your support and go get one.

Shoreditch Shuffle

So myself and Rough and a bunch of other artists got invited to be part of the Shoreditch Shuffle and paint at the roof garden party at Cordy House. So we relaxed with the music, drinks and bbq and freestyled a mini joint. The layout is designed to work even if it is split into halves or quarters, but who knows what happened to it after.

The sticker bomb launch party that took place at the Red Bull HQ in London. Freestyle window sticker design and mini sticker gallery using stickers pulled straight out the book.
I generally like all kinds of art books and I love stickers, and the 'Sticker Bomb' book from Studio Rarekwai is a whole book full of stickers. So it was great to get asked to do some for it. You can pick it up in most book stores now, or Amazon. Not sure if it's just the glue on the stickers but that book smells great

I did two Zombie Cans. They are number 184 and 185 in the book and you can check out the images in my 'Illustration' section

Hopefully I've got my photo's to show up from my blogger ftp.

I painted at the Cans 2 festival. Got together with Ikonoklast, Part2ism, Juice 126, Chu, Rough and Mac1 and had a nice day painting. This is my character with Remi/Rough's piece coming out the eyes. Was originally going to paint the light coming from below but with the street light already up top it made sense to change it.

Had some breakfast at a nearby cafe before we got started and worked out what to paint. Rough and myself had to get finished quickly as we were working on the Sticker Bomb launch party the day after.
